Y-879 - "Dr Sullivan"

Summary

Category: Y

Current Attitude: Inquisitive

Containment Procedure:

  • After being released from temporary containment within the Cross Foundation medical wing, Y-879 enthusiastically returned to work within the Experimental Department and showed no interest in leaving the Foundation.
  • Y-879 has been deemed 'of no significant threat' to the Foundation and should be permitted to continue working within the Experimental Department under the supervision of the Experimental Analysis Manager.
  • Y-879 has shown eagerness for other Cross Foundation employees to participate in the expansion of the Sullivan Glyphs Translation File.

Description:

  • Y-879 is a sapient humanoid currently employed by the Cross Foundation under the name Dr D. Sullivan and the job description 'Experimental Analysis Analyst'.
  • Y-879 does not appear capable of directly communicating by means other than written glyphs inconsistent with any known Earth language.
  • Y-879 needs to sleep and eat, and shows a particular fondness for chocolate biscuits. Routine medical tests indicate good health according to human standards.

History

Research into X-241

'Dr D. Sullivan' volunteered to join the team of researchers investigating X-241 - "Pop-Up Tent" in 1988. During a routine experiment, X-241's structural poles collapsed with Dr Sullivan inside. Dr Sullivan was not visible to the supervising researcher until X-241 had been entirely reassembled.

Following this incident, Dr Sullivan was classified as a Y-category Anomaly despite maintaining a visibly human appearance. Researchers believe that during the two minutes in which X-241 was in its collapsed state with Y-879 inside, Y-879 had been transported to a location where time passed at an advanced rate – to such a degree that after being extracted from X-241, Y-879 appeared to have forgotten all knowledge of human communication.

Sullivan Glyphs

Y-879 communicates exclusively using a written, glyph-based script which is not identifiable as any Earth-based language. Experimental studies into X-241 suggest that this same language is used by the [NON-HUMAN ENTITIES] visible to a person inside the assembled X-241. The deciphering of this language (the Sullivan Glyphs) is the responsibility of the Linguistics team within the Experimental Department. Y-879 has cooperated fully with this research and is known to invite other employees to participate in expanding the Sullivan Glyphs Translation File.

Current Activity

Though Y-879 was presented with an opportunity to move to a secure residential building for former employees severely affected by anomalous incidents, Y-879 showed more interest in returning to work within the Experimental Department. As a result, Y-879 continues to be employed by the Cross Foundation and has resumed participation in field work.
