Some of these roles may overlap across teams. Every member of Crew will receive a personal schedule explaining what they are needed to do when. Crew places are free. Meal Tickets are purchased separately. Both are booked via the [[https://unlikelystories.co.uk/anomalous|Unlikely Stories Website]]. ==== Combat Encounter Team ==== The Combat Encounter Team are dedicated to crewing (or "Monstering") for combat encounters, which may take place as part of Excursions (where Players travel to a location outside their base camp) or Incursions (where the Monsters come to them). More information about these Encounter types can be found at [[Incursions and Excursions]]. Some Combat Encounter Team roles will be simple "gribbly" Monsters that just want to devour the Players, while others might be aspects of a complex hostile anomaly. As part of the Combat Encounter Team, you'll be asked to provide a variety of challenges for Players to overcome (or be horribly defeated by), whether that involves instigating stand-offs at gunpoint, charging Players attempting a delicate and easily broken ritual, or simply being a scary yet stabbable creature. === Purpose === * To provide a variety of NPC combat encounters and some non-combat encounters for Players on Excursions and during Incursions. * To provide a challenge for Players embarking on Excursions and Incursions and provide a real level of threat. * To enrich the gameworld with a variety of NPCs and monstrosities. === Responsibilities === * Attending briefings given by the Refs. * Following instructions given by the Refs to set up Encounters. * Fight the Players to present a challenge as guided by the Refs. ==== Non-Combat Encounter Team ==== The Non-Combat Encounter Team are dedicated to setting up and playing NPCs or other beings for short non-combat Excursions (where Players travel to a location outside their base camp) or, more rarely, Incursions (where the Monsters come to them). More information about these Encounter types can be found at [[Incursions and Excursions]]. === Purpose === * To provide a variety of non-combat encounters and puzzles for Players. * To enrich the gameworld with a variety of NPCs and anomalies. * To keep a level of threat up for Players uninterested in or unable to engage in Combat. === Responsibilities === * Attending Non-Combat Encounter briefings given by the Refs. * Following instructions given by the Refs to set up Encounters. * Roleplay throughout the Encounter to challenge the Players. ==== Camp Plot Team ==== The Camp Plot Team are dedicated to playing NPCs, creatures and anomalies within the Players' base camp. Some will be helpful, some will be hostile, and some will be somewhere in the middle. Some will introduce puzzles to be solved by players, others will present problems that need to be overcome with diplomacy, and others are just there to enrich the gameworld and build immersion. === Purpose === * To provide a variety of encounters and short storylines for Players to follow. * To enrich the gameworld with a variety of NPCs. * To remind the Players that their actions have consequences and to provide a real context to the choices they make. * To encourage the Players to engage with the style and tone of the game by leading by example. === Responsibilities === * Read the various briefs prepared for Plot we are intending to bring into camp. * Follow the brief and instruction given by the Refs to set up any puzzles or encounters. * Entering play as various NPCs with agendas and plot for the Players to attempt to resolve. ==== Game Ref Team ==== The Game Ref Team consists of people who have responsibility for the running of one or more areas of the game e.g. Incursions/Excursions, Field (Base Camp) Mechanics, Plot, etc. If you would be interested in joining the Ref Team, we'd love to hear from you -- but please do not be offended if we say no, as we do need to be fairly selective when putting together our team! The Game Ref positions are: * Incursion/Excursion Refs (2) * Plot Refs (2) * Field Mechanics Ref (1) * Conference Ref (1) * Spooky Ref (1) (responsible for FX, set dressing, and atmosphere) === Purpose === * To fully understand their area(s) of the game and be a source of truth for questions in that area. * To run and keep functional their area(s) of the game. * To be available to brief members of Crew as to what is happening and what they need to do to support mechanics. * To maintain the fun and tone of the game. === Responsibilities === * Fully understand their area(s) of the game. * To be involved in relevant planning meetings prior to the game. * To liaise with and alert the Head Refs to any issues and keep communication flowing throughout the team. * To make judgment calls to ensure player safety and maximise fun. ==== Admin Team ==== The Admin Team is responsible for ensuring the game is running smoothly on an out-of-character administrative level. === Purpose === * Ensure the administrative side of the game is running to schedule. * Ensure Camp Plot is briefed and understood. === Responsibilities === * Be available at the Operations desk to handle mechanical queries and alert the Head Refs of any issues. * Liaise with all teams to ensure schedules are being kept to and resources are available. * Understand what's going on during the event. * Keep the Head Refs updated of any interesting developments. ==== Head Refs ==== === Purpose === * Overall operation of the game. * To uphold our policies and ensure a safe environment for all players and crew. * To answer any questions from players or crew. * To handle any complaints or incidents. * To liaise with all members of crew to ensure the game is running satisfactorily and crew welfare is being maintained. * To coordinate the writing of overall plot and direction. === Responsibilities === * Everything.
