====== Y-83 - "The Filing Cabinet" ====== ~~NOTOC~~ === Summary === **Category:** Y **Current Attitude:** Amicable **Containment Procedure:** * Do not attempt to move Y-83 without the aid of the Y-405. * Do not attempt to open Y-83 when closed without the aid of the Y-405. * Do not store anything except paperwork in Y-83. * If something other than paperwork has been stored in Y-83, seal the location Y-83 is in until cleared by Y-405. **Description:** * Y-83 appears to be an ordinary multiple-tier filing cabinet containing Files on a seemingly unlimited number of topics with varying reliability, and able to store a seemingly indefinite number of Foundation files for reliable access. * Evidence of greater interior volume than the external dimensions would allow for suggests Y-83 contains extradimensional space. ===History=== ==1800s== [CLASSIFIED EVENTS] after which point Y-83 was isolated in Containment as an X-Category Anomaly until 192[X]. ==Research & Development == In 192[X], the recently created Research & Development Department began reinspecting artefacts that had been consigned by a [MORE CAUTIOUS] administration to higher degrees of Containment than necessary. During this investigation, as well as confirming Y-83's functionality of seemingly limitless document storage as recorded by [NAME REDACTED], multiple objects were inserted into Y-83. One of these objects was Dr [NAME CLASSIFIED, FAMILY INFORMED]. A week after the disappearance of Dr [NAME CLASSIFIED, FAMILY INFORMED] into Y-83, concerning auditory emanations were noted from Y-83 which was also displaying swelling. Researchers opened Y-83 cautiously and out of the drawer climbed a humanoid similar in appearance to Dr [NAME CLASSIFIED, FAMILY INFORMED] but with [STARK VISUAL AND PHYSIOLOGICAL DIFFERENCES]. After a long period of discussion moderated by the Department of Extradimensional Relations and an agreement to [NOT INFORM THE FAMILY], this new being was confirmed to be created out of the body that entered Y-83 but had none of the original body's memories or identity. Eventually classified as a Y-Category Anomaly itself, this being had an uncanny ability to understand and use Y-83 and accuracy and reliability of recovered files increased with cooperation with the being that would refer to itself as "Sheila". See Y-405 for more details on "Sheila" and other "Archival Assistants". ==Active Use== Since the appearance of "Sheila", multiple additional "Archival Assistants" have manifested despite [REPEATED INSTRUCTION FROM HUMAN RESOURCES] advice against inserting bodies into Y-83. All displayed similar aptitude in using Y-83 safely and due to its portability and extradimensional storage it has become a dependable asset for the quick and easy storage and recall of files for Field Investigations. Occasionally, Y-83 will produce unexplained results when information is requested from it: particularly if queries are made attempting any form of prognostication (which Y-83 is not believed to be proficient in). ===Advice for Investigators=== * Use Y-83 liberally for the storage and retrieval of Documents. * Follow the advice of Y-405 at all times. * DO NOT PUT ANYTHING OTHER THAN PAPERWORK IN Y-83.
